Importance of proper Circulation

Every practitioner will admit the importance of proper circulation in order to have a body free from congestion and hundreds of ailments caused from this condition.

Circulation is life. Stagnation is death. If any part

of the body is robbed of a part of their blood supply,     we begin to feel the effect in one way or another:

a pain here or a malfunction there. If this state lasts     for some time, different conditions develop.

Reflexology is about bringing back the normal circulation and vitality to body organs. By stimulating nerve endings on feet, hands, ears or face in a deliberate way, a reflexologist brings forth the normal blood supply so fundamental to the body. Fresh blood supply triggers recovery - quite often its signs come immediately!

Below I want to describe several body conditions from    a reflexology standpoint.

Constipation

Signs of possible constipation can be seen in feet

in a few places. The colon reflex, which is obvious, another one is the liver reflex. A sluggish liver is responsible for the trouble in the intestinal tract that results in constipation. In this case the liver reflex is very tender. There is a crystal-like formation there interfering with the circulation of the blood to the liver, preventing it from functioning normally.

The intestines reflex is usually congested, the reflexes of: stomach, pancreas, gall bladder need a special attention.

Working this reflexes out we are giving nature a chance to carry away the waste matter and restore the normal circulation to the affected part or parts of the body.

Flatulence

A very popular topic of today’s TV adverts, by the way. It means lots of people experience this and need some advice. Flatulence it is an accumulation of gas in the digestive tract. Can be due to poor diet and poor digestion.

Food causing intestinal gas is for example: beans, peas, garlic, onion, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, artichokes, raisins, lentils, prunes, Brussel sprouts. Avoiding or limiting these products is advisable when prone to flatulence. Cleansing diet and/or brief fast is also recommended.

Reflexology treatment concentrates on restoring perfect blood circulation in the digestive tract (stomach, intestines, liver-gall bladder, pancreas), giving special attention to colon reflex.

Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Around 90 percent of menstruating women get advance warning of an approaching period because of physical and/or psychological changes in the days before their period begins.

There are more than 100 recognised symptoms that may be due to PMS. The most common symptoms are:

- Psychological: irritability, mood swings, losing your temper easily, loss of confidence, crying for no particular reason, aggression, poor concentration, tiredness.

- Physical: breast tenderness, abdominal swelling     or bloating, fluid retention, weight gain, swollen ankles, headaches.

Holistically speaking, PMS reflects imbalances in the hormonal system. They reflect, on the other hand, some disturbances in the emotional and mental condition of      a woman. The time around the period is like a moment of truth; things which bother us, but hidden other times, now make themselves felt! What is your self-esteem? How satisfied as a woman do you feel in life? Do you feel overwhelmed by others? Are you assertive enough to get your needs met?

Answers for these questions give an insight what should be changed to regain the inner harmony and a feeling of self-satisfaction. Balanced emotional and mental state will stimulate the body to balance endocrine secretions.

Reflexology treatment is about treating the whole body through giving a new energy to the nerves in feet corresponding to all systems. In this case the practitioner gives special attention to reflexes of hormonal and reproductive system, the spinal column for nerve supply, the eliminative channels, the abdominal and pelvic areas and diaphragm/solar plexus for relaxation.

Menorrhagia

Heavy periods with profuse bleeding, flooding, discharge of clots, bleeding lasting more than seven days.             In general, it is due to hormonal imbalances. Another possibility is that the body is using the menstruation as   a means of eliminating excess toxicity if others are blocked or congested. Other causes can be: IUD, fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).

Reflexology can play a valuable part, helping to cleanse the body and balance the hormonal system. Reflexes to work on especially are: reproductive system, all glands, spinal nerves, eliminative channels, diaphragm/solar plexus, immune system.

HINTS

>> As the reflexology massage boosts the blood circulation, it is advisable to have it not during your period.

>> On the other hand, there are Reflexology techniques for period pain (see: FootForum, Self-Reflexology hints & tips)

Sciatica

Sciatica is generally accepted as a result of some misplacement along the lumbar region. But also there can be other causes for this painful ailment, such as enlargement of the prostate gland, or injury to some other part of the body affecting the sciatic nerve.

Another cause: congestion. Sciatica can be caused     or influenced by constipation, which creates pressure on the nerve as it comes out of the sacrum - L5.

When inflammation of the great sciatic nerve exists,        it would be a most painful and soul-racking disease.      But it can be easily relieved by reflexology techniques accompanied with persistent effort and a little patience, which is the only way to accomplish anything worthwhile.

Pain

Pain is a protective mechanism of the body,

an unpleasant reaction to massive stimulation

of the sensory nerves calling attention to derangement  of a function of a part of the body.

Thus pain is not an enemy but an ally, an aid as an indication of where disease is to be found. An impaired function is the result of congestion in the fine hair-like capillary system of arterioles and venules.

Once again: circulation is life, stagnation is death.

The painful parts of the body need a fresh transfer of blood and lymph. Therefore improving your circulation is the answer for your pain.

Reflexology will do it for you.
